COVID OFFICERS AT THE MIDDLESEX BADMINTON DOME (the Dome)
Badminton England require all groups of players to appoint a Covid Officer to set the Covid-prevention policies for each group in respect of playing badminton. This includes understanding and respecting the policies set by the playing arenas. (e.g., the Dome)
The Dome is responsible for providing a safe environment in all areas of the Dome including managing people’s movements in the entrance hall and changing areas.
The Dome has therefore run several courses to train Covid Officers (CVOs) from our various groups to inform them about our Covid policies and the many actions we have taken to make the Dome a safe environment. To date well over 200 people have taken the course.
The Groups’ Covid Officers must confirm that the Dome’s activities have resulted in a safe environment for all their players. They are then responsible for ensuring that their Group follow all the rules in the playing hall and also for monitoring other Groups.
Group Covid Officers are therefore partnering the Dome Committee to keep us all safe and the Dome open.
Players may only enter the Dome when a representative of the Committee is present, and every court in use MUST have an appointed CVO to monitor actions on their own and other courts.
We will always have a representative of the Committee present when the Dome is open.
Any issues should be raised with the other Group’s Covid Officer, or the Dome’s Covid Officer or by email after the session to the Dome’s Committee stating the issue, timing and court(s). This will be reviewed later by CCTV.

In order to make the Dome a covid-safe place the Committee:
Require contact details of all players before arrival.
Restrict adult numbers to no more than 6 per court.
Take the temperature of all entrants.
Encourage everyone to sanitise their hands-on entry and departure.
Do not allow any non-players into the building when play is in operation.
Have implemented a one-way system into and out of the playing arena.
Provide hand, chair and equipment sanitiser, and mops for drying courts after falls.
Allocate courts to booking groups in order to minimise interaction between courts.
Require masks to be worn at all times when off court.
