MCBA Seniors
Middlesex currently enters five teams into Badminton England's Senior County Championships. This is the premier inter-county tournament and involves more than 120 teams from counties in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as well as the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The competition has been running for 90 years.
Middlesex 1st team are the reigning county champions having won the Premiership in both the 2017/18 (which was the county's first title for 65 years) and 2018/19 seasons. When the 2019/20 season was postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the first team looked on course to win its third title in a row.
The other four teams are very much part of Middlesex's success with the 2nd team competing in the Championship (division below the Premiership which comprises the top 10 1st teams), the 3rd and 4th team competing in Division 2 and the 5th team competing in division 5.
There are 5-7 matches per team and all matches are played at central locations over 3 set weekends per season, followed by ‘finals’ in May.

Each year, more than 100 players indicate their desire to play for the county and the county selection committee meets each year in September to select the teams from the available and eligible players. You can see the eligibility requirements on the previous page.
Any player wishing to be considered for one of Middlesex's county team should aim to compete in the county's Restricted tournament (usually held at end of September but will likely be postponed or cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19). We would also encourage any player wishing to be considered to compete on the BE badminton circuit as well as local and county leagues.
